How to burn our candles correctly

To get the most out of your Éthera hand-poured candles, proper care is essential. Because we use 100% natural soy wax, our candles require specific attention to ensure a clean, even, and gentle burn every time.

The All-Important First Burn The first time you light your candle, allow the wax to melt across the entire surface to the edges of the vessel. This prevents "tunneling" and ensures you get the maximum burn time from your glass or ceramic candle.

Trim Your Wicks Before every light, trim the wick to approximately 5mm. This simple step prevents excess soot, keeps the flame controlled, and helps maintain the integrity of the selected fragrances.

Safe Burning Practices

  • Surface Protection: Always place your candles on a heat-resistant surface, such as a marble tray or coaster, to protect your furniture.

  • Burn Time: Avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.

  • Decorative Candles: When lighting sculptural or decorative shapes, ensure they are placed on a deep plate or tray to catch any melting wax.

Preserving the Scent Use the provided cork lid to cover your candle when not in use. This protects the wax from dust and helps preserve the delicate fragrance oils for your next use.

I never knew about the 'first burn' rule! I used to have so much wax left on the sides of my jars, but after following these tips, my Cedarwood & Pine candle is burning perfectly flat. Such a game changer!
